Graduation

So...

Graduation parade is on tuesday, and the ceremony is on weds, and celebration dinner's on tues. I am barely excited, but it's ok, I will go with the flow eventually. I guess having my family here would make a big difference to the whole graduation ordeal. Gosh.. evidently i'm not excited at all, I called it an ordeal! It's not their fault they can't come, it just didnt work out, since I am working as well, and can't take leave to take them around. Oh well, I guess there's always next year. But in the mean time, I need to find enough safety pins to hold the hood down so I don't make a fool of myself on stage, and if I have the time, french manicure tomorrow!

All else is going good, work's been awesome and I absolutely love what I'm doing at the mo, probably because it's making good progress, and I've already managed to synthesize my target compound. Now, I just need to optimize the conditions for my reaction and get on with the next project. It seems like there will be a good flow from my project for summer to my project for Honours next year. And besides all these geeky work , I have been learning an awful lot about networking and the itswhoyouknowandnotwhatyouknow concept, though I still hold that what you know is very important, lest you BS all the way. Fortunately, this concept is working to my advantage, I found favour in the eyes of my bosses. I know that the Who I know is greater than all mankind, and have blessed me more than what I will ever deserve.

Also, God blessed me with a partial schship for living expenses for next year! =)

I'll be home in 2 weeks! I'm really looking forward to home, what with the things going on in my family, I think this will be a very much needed reunion, at least on my part. I'm guilty of being frustrated that I only have 3 weeks to spend time with sooo many ppl, but I guess I should be grateful that I actually get to go home at all! Anyhow, the graduation, Christmas parties and work will certainly make the next to weeks go by in a jiffy!

So I will end this post by showing off my newfound summer love. (Actually, it's not really summer, considering that we played in the rain today!)

Graduation... turned out to be rather fun. It made all the difference that I had friends who surrounded me and cheered me on, because there were not many ppl that I knew at both the parade and the ceremony. Most friends/classmates are either graduating mid next year, or end of next year. Nonetheless, I had lots of fun, and shall upload some pics soon, once I get them off Ms. Lau. Now I'm really excited about next year's graduation cos all my (ex)flatmates and some other friends will be graduating together! And all our parents will be here, esp my (ex)flatmates' and we even planned to have a massive celebration, and our parents can all meet each other and all!

So, we just had our Christmas BBQ lunch today, and I'm totally knackered now. Too many drinks.. but the hot and sour noodle soup from Cha saved the day (or rather night). And we decided to take a drive back into the Hutt to look at the houses that were decorated with Christmas lights! I must say that they were impressive, and one of them took 5 whole months to decorate his garden with santas, reindeers, snowmen and fairy lights everywhere! It was as if we stepped into an enchanted forest. In the hype of Christmas celebrations, it is easy to forget the whole reason for it... the song "The Reason" is playing in my mind, and I vividly remember the words which I learnt in Std 3 for the Children Church's carolling.

Oh, and guess what? I was offered the ANU Honours Scholarship!!! I really did not expect it since they only offered 15 a year, and I expected ANU to be rather competitive since it is quite a research-focussed university. Unfortunately, it only offers $5K, which is barely enough for the intnl tuition fees. I have yet to decide, and I will probably push it off till I find out more about other fundings from NZ. But I really hope I will get to sort this all out before Christmas. I really need to email my supervisor in ANU, but I've been sitting on it for so long.

Can't wait to return on 24th!

Sooooo close! But still can't get it confirmed! For the 21st flight i mean. I  managed to the Spore- Penang leg confirmed, but not the Akld- Spore. Oh well.. I'll just have to settle with the flight on Sunday, the only perk with the 14 hr transit in Spore is that I will be meeting Ms Hui and Tim!! I'm excited!

I tell you by the time I reach Pg on Monday morning, I think I'll just have Koay Chap (or maybe I should have Balik Pulau Laksa?) and go straight to bed! It's either that or I sleep at the Christmas service which happens to be on the eve- I suspect that wouldn't be very nice.

Oooh, and I received another Christmas present from Vic, or rather from God, besides His son! I got the Vic Grad Award/schship! That's the domestic tuition fees sorted! 3 more quarters to raise for!

Alright I'm really knackered! Here's to another "I'll sleep by 10pm tonight"! Let's see if that happens.
